Forró (pronounced faw-haw), is a folk music style originally from Northeast Brazil. Traditionally, a band plays with an accordion, a triangle, and a kind of hand drum (called a "Zabumba").
The dance is a subtle, simple, and fun way to enjoy the music. In the class, you will learn the basic steps, some of the twists, and different styles of Forró dancing.
Forró is the easiest way to meet people and have fun, as its simplicity can involve all levels of dancers (and even people who don't dance at all). Join us every week as we develop our practice and continue to grow our community of Portland's finest Forró dancers!
