About Heather

Hi, I'm Heather! I wish to make yoga real and accessible for EVERY body by being an advocate for body image positivity through Curvy Yoga. I hope to nurture my students with an honest and down-to-earth exploration of breath, awareness, movement, and compassion. I look forward to working with people from all walks of life – particularly those who have felt unsure, unseen or shut out in previous yoga and movement experiences. I love helping my students reconnect in body and mind, to become empowered and confident by embracing the present. No day but today!

I discovered yoga in the later part of a 20+ year corporate profession. The stress was crippling, and yoga helped me heal, both physically and mentally. I have been practicing ever since, and have studied with many incredible local and international teachers. I completed my 200-hr certification with Sarah Trelease in Portland, OR, and the Curvy Yoga Certification program with Anna Guest-Jelley, founder of Curvy Yoga and author of Yoga and Body Image. I currently teach Curvy Yoga, Vinyasa, Hatha, and Restorative yoga in the Portland area.

Fun fact: I am a theater junkie, and have performed in countless plays and musicals in my hometown of Royal Oak, Michigan. I auditioned (but was not cast) for two Broadway shows: Annie and RENT. In addition to yoga, I am passionate about arts of all kind - especially fine, theatrical, and culinary!
