About Sherri

Hi! I'm Sherri and I live in SW Portland with my wife and our furry family: two dogs and two cats. I am a mixed-media collage artist and have made a piece of artwork every day of 2018! I love to play board games with friends, growing veggies, cooking delicious food, writing the occasional poem or essay, going on adventures near and far, and attending Portland Thorns FC games. I also have a weakness for cozy socks and hats.

I discovered yoga three years after being diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease at age 30. What initially began as a way to keep moving in the face of increasingly debilitating pain and muscle spasms, has become a vital tool in managing the anxious and depressive states I find myself in due to life with complex-PTSD. That was nearly 16 years ago and my path has taken me from being a student to teaching others who might not feel like yoga is for them.

I began teaching yoga in 2005, so I'm coming up on nearly 13 years of teaching yoga. My expertise ranges from offering one-on-one Integrated Movement Therapy sessions to guiding over 150 people at a technology conference through yoga they can do anywhere, any time, and the only prop they need is their badge lanyard.

In August 2018 I will officially clock in enough hours with Yoga Alliance to upgrade to an E-RYT500. I completed my certification as an Integrated Movement Therapist in June 2017 and was certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists in August 2017.

I listen to KMHD and I love public radio! Lately, I have been listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Meshell Ndegeocello's latest release, and a handful of roots artists.
